If you are running windows 3.11;
Open Program Manager and double-click on the 'main' group.
Then double-click on the File Manager icon.
Click on
File on menu bar and select create directory.
It should say current directory
c:\
If it does not click 'cancel' and then highlight c:\ below your drive bar.
Then try again.
Next to name type 'nettemp'. and click OK.
You have just created a temporary directory to house your Netscape files.
NOTE: MAKE SURE YOU HAVE CREATED THE NETTEMP DIRECTORY UNDER C:\
If you are using win95; Click Start, Programs, Windows Explorer and then highlight under 'All Folders' the' icon (c:)' and then click 'File' then 'New' then 'Folder' and then type in 'nettemp' and hit enter.
Start PegaNet and log in, then open your existing Netscape and type
in:
http://www.netscape.com/comprod/mirror/index.html
(type this URL in the Location Bar at the TOP of Netscape and then press Enter)
Or Click On This Logo --->

Select the appropriate choices in the form at the bottom of the Netscape page.
NOTE: Choose 'Windows 3.1' if you intend to upgrade Netscape Using the PegaNet Software, even if you have Win95)
NOTE: If you are accessing PegaNet using the Windows 95 built-in Internet software, then you should select the Win95 version.
Choose your location
Choose product: Click on 'Netscape Navigator 3.0 (current version)'
Click on the 'Display download sites' button and choose a site to downlown from. (doesn't really matter) If the one you choose is busy try another one. The faster the modem the quicker the download time on all internet activity. A 14.4 is good and a 28.8 modem is even better. Any lower speed modem than a 14.4 should be pitched.
NOTE: IF YOU ARE PROMPTED WITH A BOX THAT SAYS "SAVE TO DISK" OR "CONFIGURE A VIEWER", MAKE SURE YOU CLICK ON "SAVE TO DISK" AND THEN BE SURE YOU ARE SAVING THE FILE TO THE "NETTEMP" DIRECTORY YOU HAVE JUST CREATED!
The download will take anywhere from 20 to 40 minutes depending on your modem speed.
When it is finished, again, you may be asked where you wish to SAVE
it.
MAKE SURE YOU SAVE IT TO THE C:\NETTEMP DIRECTORY!
double click on 'n16????.exe' or 'n32????.exe' (the downloaded file) - this will expand the compressed files.
When this is done Open File Manager (Win3.1) or Windows Explorer (Win95), and double click on setup.exe.
Follow the installation instructions for Netscape (there is also a readme.txt included with Netscape for help on installation problems)

SPECIAL NOTE: These instructions can be used as a guide for basic
procedures of how to download a file from the Internet.
Instead of creating a 'nettemp' directory, you would create one called
'hold' or 'storage' or 'download'.
You would then run the file, and
install the program on your computer in the appropriate directory.
